Studio Owner - South Coast Soul Yoga
Natalie starting teaching Hatha Vinyasa in 2015 after completing her 200hr YTT. Since starting Pure Yoga which evolved into South Coast Soul, Natalie has continued her education completing Level 1 ;Vinyasa Krama, Level 1; Tantra Shakti, 50hr Ayurvedic & Yoga Specialist Training and will also complete her Level 2 Master training; Kosha, Kriya, Yoga in August 2019 with her beloved teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker.
Natalie’s mission as a teacher:
Yoga is a vehicle of transformation. It is time tested science for living consciously and purposefully. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. The body is a conduit for inner awareness and higher consciousness. I don’t teach with flexibility of the body in mind. My classes directly affect both the mind and energetic body of my students. All of the physical benefits we seek in a modern yoga practice (strong core, flexible hamstrings, open hips) are a byproduct of a traditional practice.
Natalie’s personal practice:
My personal practice is forever evolving. I no longer work my body to feel as though I’m “doing” Yoga. I have a specific daily Sadhana (practice) which includes: yoga asana, pranayama (breath), meditation and mantra. The intention behind my practice is to pacify my pitta, to calm and stabilize my mind, to cultivate the energy required for that day and to shed limitation such as fear and self doubt so that I am less affected by inner and outer turbulence.
My practice is essential to my well being and runs around 90 minutes.
Katie brings a wealth of knowledge to South Coast Soul with many years of practice and teaching experience. She is a passionate advocate for collaboration and community believing that we thrive as a collective in a nurturing, open environment. Her first teacher, Hamish Hendry (Ashtanga Yoga London) laid this foundation, consistently showing her warmth, kindness, compassion and patience. Katie has since sought to grow these qualities in herself, and will share this life affirming tradition with you in an authentic, nurturing and accessible way.
She has been blessed to have studied with some of the world's most dedicated teachers including Sarah Powers, Annie Carpenter, Simon Borg-Olivier and Mark Robberds. Each have inspired and shaped her in a deeply soulful way. Recently, Katie studied with our beloved local 'Teacher of Teachers' Himani Smeaton, rediscovering a back to basics approach to exploring the vastness of the Yogic landscape.
Katie grew up yearning to travel and experience different cultures. She pursued studies in Business at The London College of Fashion and went on to achieve an Honors Degree at Westminster University. This led to a highly accomplished career as a Financial Copywriter for prestigious international Fund Management firms. Yoga found her in 1999, becoming an anchor for creating space and stillness in the busyness. She committed to the practice fully..
After a decade of career success, Katie took a sabbatical and traveled solo throughout South East Asia and Australia in 2005. A life changing experience. She settled on the Sunshine Coast in 2007 and her daughter was born in 2008. They moved to Jervis Bay in 2010 and she soon gained her certification in Hatha Yoga. She has gone on to study Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Anatomy & Physiology and Children's Yoga and feels privileged to share her practice with us here.
I love to share the knowledge I have gained from many years of study and personal practice. Providing my students with the ability to move into life with strength and flexibility in both body and mind.
The pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation practices provide you with a sense of peace and serenity, setting you up for whatever life brings.
A Bliss Class is for all ages and abilities from beginners to intermediate.
